Week 36: May 16-20, 2022

05/16/22

It’s hard to believe we are beginning the last full week of the school year. There is certainly a lot to celebrate. Here is what is happening at JPB this week.

Monday, May 16: All library books are due.

Tuesday, May 17: Kindergarten is hosting a “Pops with Pops” event to honor all dads. Please join your child for popsicles during recess from 9-9:30am. The 3rd grade team of Hubbard, Lewis, & Selph will be traveling to the GSU Wildlife Center.

Wednesday, May 18: The 3rd grade team of Mitchell, Richey, & Sorel will be traveling to the GSU Wildlife Center.

Thursday, May 19: Our 5th grade students will participate in a DARE graduation ceremony beginning at 8:30am. Parents are invited to attend.

Friday, May 20: PTO is providing Big Dog Snow Cones to all students during recess. 4th and 5th grade QUEST students will be presenting their projects at 8am in the cafeteria. Parents are invited to attend. K will have its end of the year celebration from 8-10:30 am. 1st grade will have theirs from 12:30-1:30pm and 2nd grade will host their events from 11:45-12:45. All celebrations will take place in the classroom and parents are invited to attend.

The JPB faculty and staff would like to thank our generous parents and families for the thoughtful notes and gifts last week. You certainly know how to make us feel appreciated! Thankyou very much for your kindness. 

Plan to join us on Tuesday, May 10th for the 4th and 5th grade spring musical. The show will begin at 6pm in the JPB cafeteria. Guest will be able to enter the building starting at 5:30pm.  

We are hosting a kindergarten orientation session for rising kindergarten students on Thursday, May 12th from 6-7 pm. We look forward to meeting our rising kindergartners and their families.

The dental van will be on campus this Tuesday, May 10th. Please contact Nurse Shelby Conner if you have any questions.

We would like to wish all JPB Mom’s a very happy Mother’s Day! We hope your day is as special as you are.

This week is faculty/staff appreciation week and the Bear Nation has the BEST! I know our PTO has planned lots of great treats for our AMAZING faculty and staff. You can find out more on the JPB PTO Facebook page.

Our spring book fair will be held this week. Parents are invited to shop with their student from 7:30-8:00am Monday-Friday or send in money with your student. The theme is “Back to the 80s” and our students and staff plan to dress in their 80s styles on Monday and Tuesday.

Field day is Thursday, May 5th for PK-2 grade students and Friday, May 6th for 3-5 grade students. Parents are invited to attend with their student from 8:30am-11:30am. Concessions will be sold during field day for 1.00 per item.

Talent showcase permission slips are due on Friday, May 6th in the front office. Students must have a signed permission slip in order to audition for the show.

Current 5th grade students who are interested in playing tennis at WJMS next year are invited to open court at Mill Creek Park beginning on Monday, May 2nd from 4-5:30pm. Please contact Carrie Feltman if you have any questions.

Please plan to join us for the last PTO meeting of the year on Monday, April 25th at 5:30pm. This meeting will be held in the JPB Media Center.

JPB is hosting our very own talent showcase, "JPB's Got Talent," on Monday, May 23rd. Interested students should pick up an application in the main office starting Monday, April 25th and return it by Friday, May 6th. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, May 11th.

GMAS testing continues this week for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Please help us keep things running smoothly by ensuring your student is at school on time each day. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50am and students are expected to be in the classroom by this time.

Week 32: April 18-22, 2022

We hope all of our families had a great holiday weekend. Here are this week’s announcements.

PTO Officer nomination forms were sent home on Friday with all students. Please return these forms by Wednesday, April 20th if you plan to make a nomination.

The next PTO meeting will be held on Monday, April 25th at 5:30 p.m. in our Media Center. Officer elections, budget, and other items will be discussed. We hope you can join us.

GMAS testing starts on Wednesday, April 20th for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Please make sure your student has a good night’s sleep and arrives to school by 7:45 a.m. each day. All grade levels will be following a modified schedule that may change the time students will have lunch, recess, and specials. Please check with your child’s teacher to confirm the schedule if you are planning to have lunch with your student over the next few weeks. GMAS testing will conclude on May 2nd.

Week 31: April 11-15, 2022

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. STEAM packets will be sent home tomorrow with students who registered to participate in Virtual STEAM Day. This information will also be posted to our website.

Registration is currently open for the Summer Learning Academy. This program will be held June 1-30 from 8am-12pm Monday-Friday. This opportunity is open to all current K-8 students enrolled in Bulloch County Schools. Registration closes on April 25th.

Each year Bulloch County Schools conducts an online Title 1 Parent survey. The link to this survey can be found on our school website as well as the district website. Please take a few minutes to participate in the survey.

This is the last week to take a look at our current lost and found items. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the week. Many items have been posted to the JPB Facebook page. All items are located in the front lobby. Parents/guardians may check the lost and found area anytime between 7:20 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday.

Week 30: March 28-April 1, 2022

Thursday is the last day to purchase a yearbook. Please contact Nancy Wiggins, our media specialist to order your yearbook.

All field day t-shirt orders are due Friday, April 1st. No late orders will be accepted. Please make checks payable to JPB PTO or you may purchase through JPB PTO Venmo.

Please remember that the cut off for early dismissal is 1:30 p.m. each day. If your child has an afternoon appointment, you will need to pick them up prior to this time.

School will be closed April 4th-8th for Spring Break. We hope you will enjoy a safe and fun week!

Week 29: March 21-25, 2022

We want to remind all families that the cut off for early dismissal is 1:30 p.m. Please have your photo identification with you when you arrive at the front office window to check out your student or to enter the building as a visitor.

Congratulations to the 3rd and 4th grade students who earned a spot on this year’s math teams! They will hold their first practice on Monday, March 21st. Pick up is at 3:15 in the car rider lanes.

Mark your calendar for this year’s Field Day! PK-2nd grade students will participate on Thursday, May 5th and 3rd-5th grades students will be on Friday, May 6th. Coach Green will be selling field day t-shirts for the event. A form will go home with your student on Monday, March 21st with ordering information. These forms are due back to Coach Green by Friday, April 1st.

Just a reminder that applications for the pre-k lottery and the 2022-23 virtual program are due on Friday, March 25th.

Week 28: March 14-18, 2022

Congratulations to the JPB 5th grade math team. They placed 3rd in ciphering and 3rd overall at the Penny Sikes Math Tournament on Saturday. Thank you to Mrs. Deal and Mrs. Avra for coaching our team to victory.

2022-2023 virtual program registration is happening now. Please complete your information online by March 25, 2022 if you are interested. Pre-k registration is also occurring at this time. Those applications and all necessary documents must be submitted by March 25, 2022 to be included in April’s lottery drawing.

There is no school for students on Monday. This is an in-service day for our staff. We look forward to seeing our Bears on Tuesday!


Week 27: March 7-11, 2022

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank our PTO and all of the volunteers who helped make the 2022 Super Spring Fling a huge success. Friday night’s festivities were a great way to kick off a beautiful weekend!

Here is what is happening this week at JPB.

-Our 2nd grade students will be participating in a Little Builders Workshop on Tuesday, March 8.

-There will be a GMAS Parent Information Session on Thursday, March 10 beginning at 7:30am in our media center. Parents and guardians of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are invited to attend.

-Our 5th grade math team will compete in the Penny Sikes Math Tournament on Saturday, March 12. We know they will do fabulous and we wish them the best of luck!

-Monday, March 14th is a student holiday. We hope our families will enjoy the long weekend.

Please remember that students should not be dropped off in the parking lot during morning arrival. If you are unable to walk your student to the sidewalk, you may use the car rider lanes. This will make sure all of our Bears are safe. Thank you for your help with this.

Tuesday, May 17: Kindergarten is hosting a “Pops with Pops” event to honor all dads. Please join your child for popsicles during recess from 9-9:30am. The 3rd grade team of Hubbard, Lewis, & Selph will be traveling to the GSU Wildlife Center.

Wednesday, May 18: The 3rd grade team of Mitchell, Richey, & Sorel will be traveling to the GSU Wildlife Center.

Thursday, May 19: Our 5th grade students will participate in a DARE graduation ceremony beginning at 8:30am. Parents are invited to attend.

Friday, May 20: PTO is providing Big Dog Snow Cones to all students during recess. 4th and 5th grade QUEST students will be presenting their projects at 8am in the cafeteria. Parents are invited to attend. K will have its end of the year celebration from 8-10:30 am. 1st grade will have theirs from 12:30-1:30pm and 2nd grade will host their events from 11:45-12:45. All celebrations will take place in the classroom and parents are invited to attend.

Week 35: May 9-13, 2022

The JPB faculty and staff would like to thank our generous parents and families for the thoughtful notes and gifts last week. You certainly know how to make us feel appreciated! Thankyou very much for your kindness. 

Plan to join us on Tuesday, May 10th for the 4th and 5th grade spring musical. The show will begin at 6pm in the JPB cafeteria. Guest will be able to enter the building starting at 5:30pm.  

We are hosting a kindergarten orientation session for rising kindergarten students on Thursday, May 12th from 6-7 pm. We look forward to meeting our rising kindergartners and their families.

The dental van will be on campus this Tuesday, May 10th. Please contact Nurse Shelby Conner if you have any questions.

We would like to wish all JPB Mom’s a very happy Mother’s Day! We hope your day is as special as you are.

Week 34: May 2-6, 2022

This week is faculty/staff appreciation week and the Bear Nation has the BEST! I know our PTO has planned lots of great treats for our AMAZING faculty and staff. You can find out more on the JPB PTO Facebook page.

Our spring book fair will be held this week. Parents are invited to shop with their student from 7:30-8:00am Monday-Friday or send in money with your student. The theme is “Back to the 80s” and our students and staff plan to dress in their 80s styles on Monday and Tuesday.

Field day is Thursday, May 5th for PK-2 grade students and Friday, May 6th for 3-5 grade students. Parents are invited to attend with their student from 8:30am-11:30am. Concessions will be sold during field day for 1.00 per item.

Talent showcase permission slips are due on Friday, May 6th in the front office. Students must have a signed permission slip in order to audition for the show.

Current 5th grade students who are interested in playing tennis at WJMS next year are invited to open court at Mill Creek Park beginning on Monday, May 2nd from 4-5:30pm. Please contact Carrie Feltman if you have any questions.
