Week 28: March 13-17, 2023

Week 28 Message:

Spring and class pictures will be taken this week for students. PK, 1st, 3rd, & 5th grade students will take their pictures on Wednesday, March 15. PIP, Kindergarten, 2nd, & 4th grade students will take their pictures on Thursday, March 16. There are no make-up days for spring pictures.

School is closed on Monday, March 13 for students. This is an in-service day for teachers.

There will be an evening pre-k registration event held at the BOE on Monday, March 13 from 4:30-7:00 pm. In order for your child to be included in the pre-k lottery, registration and required documents must be received by Friday, March 17. The JPB pre-k lottery will be held online on Friday, March 31 at 10 am. The link can be found on the district’s website.

Let’s wish our 5th grade math team lots of luck as they compete in the 40th Annual Penny Sikes Math Tournament on Saturday, March 18. We know they will do great!

Week 27 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

We want to extend a BIG thank you to our PTO members, sponsors, volunteers, and families for making this year’s Spring Fling a huge success! Your hard work and dedication made this a fun and exciting event for our entire school community. Thank you!

Our QUEST students are hosting a book drive for literacy month. Students will be collecting books from 7:20-8:00 am the week of March 27-31 in the front lobby of the school. Please consider donating new or gently used books that will be used for the Bulloch County Book Bus and the JPB Book Vending Machine.

Our pre-k and PIP students will be celebrating Farm Day on Thursday, March 9. Contact your child’s teacher for more information.

Please check your child’s Thursday folder for information about Class and Spring Pictures. They will take place on Wednesday, March 15 for PK, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade classes and Thursday, March 16 for PIP, K, 2nd, and 4th grade classes.

There will be no school for students on Monday, March 13. This is a teacher in-service day.

Week 26 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th grade math teams! They did a wonderful job at this weekend’s Reggie Dawson Math Tournament. We are proud of our students and their coaches.

Spring Fling is this Friday from 5:30-8:30 pm. You can purchase presale wristbands through Tuesday for a discounted price. They will be available for purchase at the event at regular cost. This is a fun time for the entire family. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Our school will be celebrating literacy during the month of March. Our QUEST students will be hosting a book drive. They are collecting new or gently used elementary-aged books that will be used for our book vending machine and the Bulloch County Book Bus. There will be a table at Spring Fling where you can drop off your books or you can bring them to school the week of March 27. We will have a special reading day on Friday, March 31. Please stay tuned for more details.

Week 25 Message: Good evening. I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! Here are this week’s reminders.

Our morning car rider procedures have changed. We will only use one lane in the morning instead of two to ensure our students safety.

Plan to join us for STEM Night this Tuesday from 5:30-7:00pm. We have lots of great activities for our families to participate in and the book fair will be open for business as well.

The “Reading is Out of this World” book fair is here!  Students can shop during designated times during the school day or families can shop together before school from 7:20-8:00 am.

Book Fair Dress Down Days for this week are:

Monday-Reading Makes Us Brighter (wear neon colors)

Tuesday-Reading is “Out of this World” (dress as a scientists, astronaut, or space related character-no masks)

Wednesday-Black Hole Day (wear all black)

Thursday-Back to the Future (pick a decade to dress like)

Friday-Space Jam (sports wear)

If your student rides the bus, please sign up for the JPB Bus Remind. There is a button on our website with more information.

Please check your email for a message from Mrs. Compton. It contains a newsletter with lots of great information about what is happening at JPB. The newsletter is also posted on our school website.

Week 24: February 6-10, 2023

Week 24 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

This week is National School Counseling Week. We are grateful to have two phenomenal school counselors, Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Feltman. Make sure to tell them thank you for all they do for our school and our students.

The Spring Book Fair will be held the week of February 20th. Classes will attend preview days on Thursday and Friday of this week. Shopping will begin when we return from Winter Break.

Mark your calendar for JPB STEM Night! This event will be held on Tuesday, February 21 from 5:30-7:00pm. Families will be able to participate in science, technology, math, and engineering activities and visit the book fair.

School will be closed February 13-17, 2023 for Winter Break. We hope our students and families have an exciting break.

Week 23: January 30-February 3, 2023

Week 23 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

Parents and guests are invited to join us for 3rd grade QUEST project presentations on Wednesday, February 1 from 8:15-9:00 and 4th grade QUEST project presentations on Friday, February 3 from 8:15-9:00. Please remember to bring your photo i.d. with you to check in for these events.

Winter iReady testing results will be sent home this week in Thursday folders. Please review this information with your student and let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions.

Orders for “Beary Special” messages in the yearbook will continue to be accepted through February 10, 2023. Please contact our media specialist, Nancy Wiggins, to place your order. Yearbooks will be on sale through March and may be ordered online or by sending in payment with your child to school. The cost of the yearbook is $20.00.

Week 22 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

Yearbooks and “Beary Special” messages are still on sale. Yearbooks can be ordered online through the Bear Nation School Store link found on our website or by sending in your order with payment of 20.00 to school with your child. “Beary Special” messages are handled by Mrs. Wiggins, our media specialist. Please contact her if you have any questions or need assistance.

We are continuing to focus on good attendance. Please make sure your child arrives to school by 7:50 a.m. each morning. If you child has to miss school, send in a note the day you return with your child or complete a note online using the link found on our school website.

Week 21: January 16-20, 2023

Week 21 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

It’s time for our winter iReady. All students in grades K-5 will complete a reading and math diagnostic with their teacher. Students who are absent will make up the assessments when they return. Parents will receive a copy of these results at the end of February.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will participate in the Georgia Health Survey on Tuesday, January 17. More information about the survey can be found on our website.

We are currently looking for two additional parents to add to our school council. Look for more information about this opportunity to come home in Thursday folders this week.

Please help us keep our students safe by following morning drop off protocols. Parents should use the car rider lanes, not our front parking, to drop off their students. The parking lot is reserved for parents who choose to park and walk their students to the crosswalk to ensure their safety.

Congratulations to Mrs. Deal, Mrs. Morgan, and Ms. Whitworth’s classes on winning our surprise attendance day last week! All three classes had perfect attendance with no tardies. We will continue to honor classes with good attendance this school year.

Week 20: January 9-13, 2023

Week 20 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.

Progress reports were sent home with students on Friday. Please review them and let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions.

Yearbooks are on sale now for 20.00. You can purchase a “Beary Special” message to add to the yearbook for your child through February 10. The cost of the messages varies based on the page size. Nancy Wiggins, our media specialist, can help you place your order.

Our 5th grade QUEST students will host an expo this Friday from 8:15-9:00 a.m. to share their travel passport projects. Parents and guests are invited to attend. Please remember to bring a photo id for the check-in process.

As part of our good attendance focus, we will continue to hold surprise attendance days during 2nd semester. On these days, all of the classes with the best attendance will be recognized.

PTO has started planning our annual Spring Fling which will be held on Friday, March 3. There are many ways you can volunteer to help make this event one of the best. Please reach out to PTO to let them know you are interested in helping out. ​​​​​​​

Week 19 Message: Happy New Year, Bears! We look forward to seeing you back at school tomorrow. Here are this week’s announcements.

Yearbooks are on sale now for 20.00. You can add a “Beary Special” message to the yearbook for your child through February 10. The cost of the messages varies based on the page size. Please contact Nancy Wiggins to place your order.

2nd 9-Week Progress Reports will be sent home with your student this Friday, January 6.

Look for a bright orange flyer to come home this week with your child from our counselors. This sheet provides more information about body safety lessons which will begin the week of January 16. If you do not want your child to participate in these lessons, please sign and return the form. Mrs. Feltman and Mrs. Gray can answer any questions you may have about these lessons.

We will continue to focus on making good attendance a priority this semester. Please make sure your child arrives to school each day by 7:50 a.m. If you child is absent, please send a parent note to the office or complete a note using the online link found on our website.
